Casa de la India offers to the public the opportunity to enjoy the great richness of Indian music. Thanks to the collaboration of the Embassy of India and the ICCR (Indian Council of Cultural Relations), some of the most relevant artists of the Indian music scene have been able to show their art in various cities of Spain.
Special performances have also been staged with the Symphony Orchestra of Castilla y Leon, like the concert with sitarist Anoushka Shankar for the opening ceremony of the headquarters of Casa de la India in 2006, or the program presented with violinist L. Subramaniam in 2016 to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations between Spain and India.
Casa de la India also hosts innovative proposals from Indian artists living in Europe, Indo-Spanish productions, interdisciplinary performances and didactic concerts.
Among the concert series that it programs the "India en Concierto" Festival is worth highlighting, which is organized in collaboration with the ICCR, the Embassy of India and other entities and aims to bring to Spanish audiences (in cities like Madrid, Valladolid, Barcelona, Sevilla, etc.) the talent, creativity and cultural richness of Indian music and dance. Celebrated since 2008 this biennial festival has presented artists like Hariprasad Chaurasia (flute), Fakira Khan ('Manganiyar' Rajasthani folk music), Narmadha Gopalakrihnan (violin), P. Unnikrishann (carnatic music), T.A.S. Mani (percussion), the percussion group of Vikku Vinayakram, the sarod players of Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan, the violinist Ambi Subramaniam and the Gundecha brothers, among others.
Many of these artists also offered workshops and masterclasses at Casa de la India and at other partner institutions.
