Aware of the relevance of cinema in today's society to bring the culture, reality and traditions of a country closer to the public, Casa de la India organizes in its regular programming film cycles, retrospectives and screenings of feature films, documentaries and short films from India. Recent initiatives include IndiaIndie, Showcase of Independent Films from India, produced in collaboration with other entities, which introduces to Spanish audiences the new independent cinema that is made in India.
Also with the aim of strengthening the ties between the film industries of Spain and India, Casa de la India regularly organizes meetings of film producers, and a variety of actions, working visits and networking meetings for the promotion of Spain as a tourist destination and shooting location of films from India, in coordination with the Valladolid Film Office, Spain Film Commission and other entities. In 2016 Casa de la India signed a collaboration agreement, renewed in 2018, with the Producers Guild of India and the Spain Film Commission to strengthen relations between the film industries of Spain and India and to promote joint initiatives that facilitate filming in both countries.
Casa de la India also promotes the presence of Spanish and Indian cinema in the most important platforms and festivals of both countries in collaboration with government institutions such as the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) and National Film Development Corporation of India, and the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) and Spanish Film Archives (Filmoteca Nacional). From 2006 to 2010 Casa de la India produced the Spanish Film Festival in India, for which it received the González-Sinde Award in 2010 by the Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences of Spain. On the other hand Casa de la India also gave impetus to the Audiovisual Co-production Agreement signed between Spain and India in 2012.
